This week, our readings cover a range of concerns from the experience of Women in leadership, to revival, theology, politics and fundamentalism. Note that our writers are coming from very different perspectives, though they need credit for trying to be objective!
The three chapters by Laurie Barber, Allan Davidson and Jim Veitch in Dennis McEldowney, Presbyterians in Aotearoa, 1840 -1990. Wellington: Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand, 1990, pp.74 to 182. provide a good outline.
This is rather a lot for one week, and you will probably need to skim some of it. At the same time we do need more material on the years since 1990, and the summary online and in the Reader is somewhat brief.
Discussion Question, Week 10
How have the leadership and ministry roles of women in the Presbyterian Church changed from the time of the early Presbyterian settlers to today?
