Understanding Presbyterianism

This course material was developed for online teaching through the Ecumenical Institute for Distance Theological Studies (EIDTS) up until 2014. The course is particularly relevant to the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand but may be of interest to others. It regards the Celtic and Medieval background in Scotland as part of the Presbyterian / Reformed story and provides a survey of key events and personalities, particularly for the Scottish and New Zealand parts of the history. A third of the course (5 weeks) is devoted to issues arising in the life of the church today and asks students to draw on the historical and theological resources surveyed to address those issues.
